On Sunday, we spent the day at the Los Angeles County Fair with Mike, Karly, and Ella Bailey. Since Mike, Karly, and I are all from Minnesota, we had high expectations for the fair. For those of you who don't know, Minnesota's fair has the largest daily attendance in the United States. Texas only outranks it because it runs for twice as long and therefore has the most attendance annually.
Our day began with getting food on a stick, a MN tradition.
We wanted to see typical farm animals, but I joked that people invest in Alpaca farms in Cali; they don't have farms, and they certainly don't have the normal farm animals.Karly and I on the big yellow slide, another MN tradition!
Karly enjoying a dip in the pool. Pools are obviously more abundant here than in MN.
Tyler and Mike, with Ella, enjoying the Homes and Gardens part of the fair.
Patio sized checkers. You better believe my patio is going to look like that. I guess when I was little, I saw black and white checkered linoleum at the store and told my grandma she should get it for her kitchen so we could play checkers.
Tyler would tell you this was his favorite part of the fair: $1.50 and $5 DVDs. We left with 15.
Ella was sooooo good the whole day! She was giggling and happy to be walking around!
We Minnesotans were excited about the building where it snowed every 30 minutes. There was a rink to skate, a hill to slide down, and a spot for snow ball fights and snow angels. Overrun by the underprivileged children who never get to experience snow. So so sad.
Minneosta! Woo hoo! This was on the side of a blow up slide for kids. There was also one shaped like the Titanic and you got to slide down the ship as it was sinking. TACKY. What next? A ride where the floor comes out from under you and you fall straight down shaped like the Twin Towers?
Making our way back to our car. It was a long walk. No valet parking? We are shocked.
One last ice cream cone before the day is done.
